Check your Bulgarian SAF-T file before the NRA does

A free, in-browser validator for the Bulgarian SAF-T: the official XSD schema, balance equations and the business rules from the tax administration’s official Q&A. Your file never leaves your computer.

What this is

SAFTCheck is a free validator for Bulgarian SAF-T files (Standard Audit File for Tax), mandatory in Bulgaria in waves from January 2026 under the Tax and Social Security Procedure Code (DOPK, art. 71h–71k). Before you submit a file to the National Revenue Agency (NRA) portal, drop it here and see what the portal will object to — in seconds.

  • Everything runs in your browser. The file is parsed by WebAssembly locally and never leaves your computer — no upload, no account, no cookies. You can switch off the network and it still works (the page is also installable as an offline app).
  • Three layers of checks: the official NRA XSD schema v1.0.2 (Order З-ЦУ-30-359/27.02.2026); accounting logic — per-account balance continuity, per-transaction debit=credit, document totals; and the business rules from the NRA's official Q&A — account codes against the national chart of accounts, counterparty identifiers ("10" + UIC, no "BG" prefix), zero-period structures, cross-references of customers, suppliers and products.
  • Batch mode for firms: drop several monthly files at once — you get a per-file table, and consecutive months of the same entity are checked for opening/closing balance continuity.
  • Audit-friendly report: downloadable and printable, with a SHA-256 fingerprint that ties the report to the exact file that was checked.

Who has to file, briefly

The obligation phases in between 2026 and 2030: it started in January 2026 with the largest enterprises (2023 revenue above BGN 300M or taxes and contributions above BGN 3.5M) and reaches all VAT-registered businesses by 2030. Monthly files are due by the end of the following month; the annual fixed-assets file by 30 June of the next year; the inventory file only on request by the revenue authority. How to use it — three steps

  1. Open the home page and drop your .xml file onto the big card („Пуснете SAF-T файла тук“ = "Drop your SAF-T file here"). Nothing is uploaded.
  2. Read the verdict: „Файлът мина всички проверки“ = "The file passed all checks"; „грешки“ = errors, „предупреждения“ = warnings. Every finding shows the line number, an explanation and a fix hint.
  3. „Свали доклада“ = download the report; „Печатен доклад (PDF)“ = printable report; „Провери друг файл“ = check another file.
